Are learning and growth among your core values in life?

If so, you’ll love this quote from Mahatma Gandhi

“Live as you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Beautiful, right?

But what if you’re feeling stuck? Let’s say — feeling bored and disengaged in what you’re currently doing and not yet ready for a major change in life? How to continue learning from that?

I know, it’s hard sometimes. I was there, too. Actually, many times…doing these:

... Impatiently, looking at my watch and dreaming what I’ll do when this meeting will finally end,

… Distracting myself with social media because what I was hearing sounded too familiar,

… Or engaging my mind in a negative chatter “what the hell am I doing here?…” or “I’m so not interested in these…”

Then one day in spring, I felt so tired and decided to change my approach for good. Instead of focusing on what I didn’t like, that wasn’t taking me very far — I started asking myself these powerful questions:

What can I learn from this?

and

How this could work for me?

Reframing your internal dialogue into asking and answering these positively stated questions will – actually help you spot new learnings, new approaches and new perspectives in every situation.

Developing this “mental fitness” will serve you throughout your professional life. You will be able to practice lifelong learning on a daily basis with a sense of growth — even if your current work environment isn’t very stimulating to you.

Now, I’d love to hear from you.

1) How do you cultivate your learning and growth on a regular basis?

and

2) How do you turn a familiar or boring experience into something interesting for you?

With love,
